UPMC Pinnacle Memorial is selling an iconic York County mansion that has been used by the medical center as a conference space and temporary housing for staff.

The hospital is asking $1.1 million for Elmwood Mansion, a three-story, Greek-revival style home at 400 Elmwood Boulevard in Spring Garden Township. The 6,500-square-foot mansion is visible from Interstate 83 and local streets.

It was built by Jacob Brillinger in 1835 and moved from its original location on South Belmont Street to its current address in 1905, according to listing company Susquehanna Real Estate. The mansion-turned-conference center has seven offices, five restrooms, eight fireplaces, a full kitchen and an apartment with a bedroom, full bathroom and kitchenette.

The sale is one of multiple properties that will go on the market as Memorial builds a new hospital at the former Hawk Lake Golf Course site in West Manchester Township. The new hospital is expected to be completed next summer.

An open house will be held at the Elmwood Mansion from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4.

For more information about purchasing the property, visit BelmontStreet-YorkPA.com or contact Jack Kay or Phil Briddell at Susquehanna Real Estate at 717-848-5500.
