No charges to be filed in alleged case of police brutality
(York) — The York County district attorney says no criminal charges will be filed in a 2012 case of alleged police misconduct.
District Attorney Tom Kearney released his 27 page report today.
It concludes that two Springettsbury Police officers used reasonable force when taking Steven Landis into custody on the night of August 5th, 2012.
Landis, who had a warrant out for his arrest, complained of two dozen bruises and five broken ribs.
Dash-cam footage details much of the altercation.
Kearney says both officers involved in the incident had ample reason to be concerned about their safety during the encounter.
Landis’ attorney Devon Jacob released a statement this afternoon that points out his client was acquitted on a charge of resisting arrest.
Jacob filed a federal civil rights lawsuit earlier this year.
