(Undated) — One of the biggest names in comedy is coming to Lancaster tonight for a special benefit appearance. Bill Cosby is slated to take the stage at JP McCaskey High School tonight at 8 o’clock.

The show will benefit the Lancaster Education Foundation, which raises money to support programs for students in the School District of Lancaster. Cosby, who has a doctorate in education, says he’s happy to share his comedy for the cause. “This is for the good of children and their families,” Cosby says. “With this, the monies will be used to aid them for things they do not have — due to cuts, cuts, cuts.”

The legendary comedian says he discovered his talents while writing essays at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Cosby considers himself an advocate for education and says he thinks schools need to work together to overcome challenges like decreased funding.
