Established in 1935 by poet and philanthropist, Edith Anisfield Wolf to honor her father, John Anisfield, and her husband Eugene Wolf. The legacy of these awards is to honor Anisfield-Wolf‘s family’s dedication to social justice. Past novels have focused on human-rights issues, art and culture around the world, the damaging effects of racism on children, the complexities of biracial-identity, and the dignity of people striving for social justice. Join Henry Louis Gates Jr. as incredibly talented authors are honored for their thought-provoking and impactful works that will help shape human history and the future of social justice.
