From the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the US government response has traveled through uncharted waters. There were so many unknowns at the beginning and no solid research to base policy decisions.

A lot of progress has been made in the past 15 months; the world has several proven vaccines and treatments to fight the virus and a record of mitigation success to combat the spread.

Yet, there are still many myths and misnomers used to discuss the virus, which muddy the waters of our understanding and undermine the government’s response.

Dr. John Goldman, MD., is an Infectious Disease specialist with UPMC Pinnacle and he joins Smart Talk Thursday to help sort fact from fiction in fight against COVID-19.
