Take One Small Step

  • Fred Vigeant

At this critical moment, StoryCorps is inviting people to take One Small Step to better understand those with whom they disagree. Through this unique project, strangers of opposing political views meet one on one to talk about their lives.

Join us for a special, with NPR host Elise Hu who explores whether the simple but courageous acts of talking and listening can act as a potent countervailing force to the national discord.

One Small Step features interviews with StoryCorps founder Dave Isay and prominent conservative and liberal guests, the hour is centered around a live stage event from WBHM in Birmingham, AL. We hear surprising and poignant conversations among people like Joseph Weidnecht and Amina Amdeen, who came to StoryCorps to remember a life-changing moment when they were on opposite sides of a political protest but found themselves suddenly in alliance.

Listen for One Small Step Monday September 7 at 9:00am and 7:00pm on WITF 89.5 and 93.3 and you can ask your smart speaker to ‘Play WITF Radio’.
