Heat advisory in effect across central Pennsylvania

Forecasters say the combination of high temperatures and humidity could push the heat index to 103-degrees

(State College) — The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the midstate today.

The advisory is in effect through 8:00 p.m.

Forecasters say the combination of high temperatures and humidity could push the heat index to 103-degrees and increase the potential for heat related illnesses.

The National Weather Service in State College warnsthe excessive heat can be life-threatening, especially for children, the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions.

If you work or must spend time outdoors, be sure drink plenty of fluids and take frequent breaks in shade or air conditioning.
