Fifty-two more Pennsylvanians have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, according the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s daily update. There are a total of 185 cases across the commonwealth reported from the state lab, as well as commercial and hospital labs.

The latest data includes the first cases reported in Adams, Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Altogether, patients in 22 counties have tested positive for the coronavirus disease.

The state on Wednesday reported the first death from COVID-19: an adult from Northampton County who had been treated at a hospital.

“Our notable increase in cases over the last few days and our first death in Pennsylvania indicate we need everyone to take COVID-19 seriously,” Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said in a news release. “Pennsylvanians have a very important job right now: stay calm, stay home and stay safe. We have seen case counts continue to increase and the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is to stay home.”
