Suspect in stable condition after police-involved shooting in Spring Grove

(Spring Grove) — A person who was struck by a bullet during an officer-involved shooting at a bank in Spring Grove on Wednesday is in stable condition at York Hospital, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

State police are investigating the shooting, which took place in the first block of West Hanover Street.

Southwestern Regional Police responded to the address for a disturbance call, the news release states. While on the scene, an officer fired his pistol and a person was struck by the bullet. 

A news release does not provide details about the person who was struck or where the person was at the time.

Southwestern Regional Police issued a news release late Wednesday night, saying the officer-involved shooting happened around 4:45 p.m. at the Santander Bank. None of the employees at the bank were injured. 

“One person we were dealing with was injured in the incident and has been taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition,” it said.

It also stated that none of the officers were injured except for scrapes and bruises.

No one in the community was in danger, and the incident only lasted a several minutes.

The state police’s Major Case team is investigating, and no further information is being released at this time.

Southwestern Regional Police and Pennsylvania State Police remained at the bank shortly after 7:00 p.m., where police had cordoned off the bank property with yellow crime tape.
