(Undated) — A church with a minuscule stake in Pennsylvania’s largest natural gas driller has won shareholder approval of a resolution to force the company to produce a report on its effort to scale back methane emissions.

Range Resource’s board opposed the measure, saying the Fort Worth, Texas-based company already provides “considerable disclosure” to stockholders and federal and state environmental regulators.

Shareholders at the company’s annual meeting Wednesday approved the church’s resolution with just over 50 percent of the vote.

The Unitarian Universalist Association wants Range and other drillers to limit emissions from methane, a powerful greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. Range says it’s not a significant emitter of methane and takes steps to limit methane pollution.

The Boston-based church owns Range stock valued at about $2,000.
