York City Police officer dies during SWAT training in Baltimore County

York City Police Officer Alex Sable was 37 years old.
(York) — A York City Police officer died Wednesday after suffering a cardiac arrest while participating in a SWAT training exercise in Baltimore County on Sunday, according to a press release from the City of York.
Officer Alex Sable, 37, was training to become a member of the York County’s Quick Response Team when he suffered the cardiac arrest. He received immediate treatment from on-site medics and was transported to a Baltimore-area hospital where he died Wednesday evening.
Sable was a member of the York City Police Department for four years. He lived in Lancaster County with his wife and three young children.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Officer Alex Sable,” according to the news release. “The City of York is deeply saddened by this loss, as Officer Sable was a respected member of the York City Police Department and a friend to all. He will be sincerely missed … Any city support needed will be provided to our officers and the family during this time of bereavement.”
The City of York and the York City Police Facebook pages changed their profile pictures to the thin blue line — representing police’s position as a defense of order over chaos — but also used to represent a police officer’s passing.
