Teen charged in relation to reported threat at York County high school

(Hanover) — Penn Township Police have filed charges in relation to a reported threat made against South Western High School last Friday.

Ethan Michael Wilson, 18, was charged with terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, according to online court documents.

He was arraigned Friday in front of District Judge Dwayne Dubs and had unsecured bail set for $10,000, documents state.

Wilson has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 2 in front of District Judge Jeffrey Sneeringer.

Police continue to investigate both the high school threat and the Emory H. Markle Intermediate School threat, according to Penn Township Police Chief James Laughlin.

The threats to the high school and intermediate school were two separate incidents, Laughlin said.

According to the Penn Township Police log, police were informed about a possible threatening social media post Saturday morning. 

The police are working with the schools and “everything is being looked into, and we are doing the best we can,” Laughlin said.

What is most important is the students’ safety, he said.

“We believe it to be under control,” Laughlin said. 

South Western School District Supt. Jay Burkhart said he visited all the schools Monday. 

“We are always going to put the safety of our students in the forefront, and we are working very closely with police,” Burkhart said.
