Suspect in fatal shooting of U.S. Deputy Marshal in Harrisburg identified

(Harrisburg) — Police have released the identity of the man who shot and killed a U.S. Marshal yesterday in Harrisburg.
U.S. Attorney David Freed says a U.S. Marshals task force already had Shayla Piere, the target of an arrest warrant, in handcuffs when Kevin Sturgis opened fire.
“At that point the officers heard gunfire that appeared to emanate from the second floor of the residence. Deputy U.S Marshal Christopher Hill and were struck by the gunfire,” Freed says.
Christopher Hill, an 11-year U.S. Marshals veteran from York County, died at the hospital.
He leaves behind a wife and two children.
Freed says Sturgis was at the residence and had two active warrants from the city of Philadelphia.

A felony for firearms possession, and a probation violation related to charges of recieving stolen property and other charges.
The 31-year-old Sturgis died at the scene.
York City Police officer Kyle Pitts was wounded and a Harrisburg City police officer was hit in his protective body armor, but was not hurt.
