York is the place to visit in 2018, according to Peter Greenberg.

Just a couple of weeks after the Emmy-winning travel journalist named York one of his “offbeat” destinations to visit on “CBS This Morning,”Greenberg will once again bring the Factory Tour Capital of the World into the spotlight on an upcoming episode of his PBS show “The Travel Detective.”

Greenberg and his production crew spent three days in York in June gathering footage for the eight-minute segment, “Like A Local,” which offers tips on attractions, restaurants and other local favorite spots to visit.

His crew filmed a number of York County experiences, including kayaking down the Susquehanna, hand-twisting pretzels and visiting the vineyards in the southern part of the county, according to a news release.

The segment will also feature Harley-Davidson Vehicle Operations, Sunrise Soap Company, Martin’s Snacks, Bluett Bros. Violins, Revonah Pretzel, Naylor Wine Cellars, Central Market, the York County History Center, the York County Heritage Rail Trail, the Susquehanna Riverlands, Highpoint Scenic Vista and Steam Into History.

The episode premieres at 5:30 p.m. CST Saturday, Jan. 20 on WTTW in Chicago and will then roll out to public TV stations across the country, according to the release. Viewers should check their local listings for times.

The episode is projected to air at least three times and reach as many as 2.3 million people, according to the release.

This national exposure will give York County “a burst of momentum in the new year,” said Louise Heine, Destination Marketing Director for the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau, in the release.

During Greenberg’s trip to York in June, which was supported by a York County Tourism Grant, he also taped his weekly “Peter Greenberg Worldwide Radio Show,” which aired in late July.

Greenberg is the travel editor for CBS News, a New York Times best-selling author and an award-winning journalist.
