Spring Grove homicide: Woman found dead; police call it ‘a crime of great magnitude’

(Spring Grove) — Police were dispatched to the first block of North Main Street in Spring Grove Borough Saturday morning for a homicide at about 7 a.m.
Samantha Stein, 24, was found dead in her residence by her boyfriend. Three children under the age of 11 were in the home at the time of the alleged murder, but were not harmed, according to Southwestern Regional Police Sgt. Jamie Stalcup.
Police believe it is a homicide based on Stein’s injuries, and they do have persons of interest, but they do not have a suspect or suspects in custody, he said.
The three children are currently with family.
Police are not disclosing the nature of Stein’s death at this time, Stalcup said.
“It was a pretty substantial crime scene and the forensic unit has a lot to process from the scene,” Southwestern Regional Police Chief Gregory Bean said.
“Obviously this is a crime of great magnitude today,” Stalcup stated in comparison to the other reported crimes in the area.
Police believe that the homicide was a targeted crime, and they don’t believe there is danger to the public.
Stein’s autopsy has been scheduled for Dec. 18 at 8 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, according to a press release from the York County Coroner’s Office.
