ATV ridership on the rise in PA
(Harrisburg) — Ridership of all-terrain vehicles, or ATVs, is moving into high gear in Pennsylvania, and state officials are trying to determine the extent of its popularity.
An online survey by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources seeks to reach out to ATV enthusiasts to determine where they like to ride and what new opportunities they would like to see.
DCNR spokesman Terry Brady says one goal is a statewide inventory of ATV trails on public and private lands.
“The Bureau of Forestry and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is looking beyond just providing riding opportunities in state forest lands. People say, “Where do we go.” Well when you go north there’a an awful lot of townships and rural areas where they would like to study and perhaps see more ATV ridership,” Brady said.
There are close to 170 thousand registered ATV owners in Pennsylvania.
