Two midstate natives competing at World Luge Championships

(Königssee, Germany) — Two U.S. Olympians from the midstate are hoping to have good showings this weekend in Germany.
The World Luge Championships are in Germany and Summer Britcher of Glen Rock, York County, will be competing in the Women’s Singles event.
“It was really nice to have an extra week of training going into this race. Usually, we have a very small number of runs, so we had a full extra week of training,” she says. “So, I’m really going into it trying to do better than World Championships last year, where I placed ninth.”
Britcher placed 15th at the 2014 XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
Jayson Terdiman of Berwick, Columbia County, will compete in the Spring Seeding races today and the Men’s Doubles tomorrow.
He says he’s still adjusting to his new teammate, Matt Mortensen.
“Matt and I are still a young team together. Not young in the sense of being young, but in the sense of being on a sled together,” he says. “We’re really just getting more and more comfortable every day with how each other slides and how we can work our way down the tracks here.”

Terdiman finished 6th in the team relay at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games.
The 2016 FIL World Luge Championships run through tomorrow in Königssee.
