This is the evidence from poaching case, according to the state Game Commission. Four adults and two juveniles from the Spring Grove area pleaded guilty to citations that they poached 18 white-tailed deer, the Game Commission said.

(Spring Grove) — Four adults and two juveniles from the Spring Grove area pleaded guilty to citations that they illegally killed 18 white-tailed deer, the Pennsylvania Game Commission said in a news release.

Amy Daugherty, 44, Jennifer Rosenberry, 41, Cain Rosenberry, 30, and Joshua Runkle, 21, as well as two juveniles unlawfully harvested white-tailed deer ranging from yearlings to adult does and bucks, including a nine-point buck, according to the news release. It happened during a three-month “poaching spree,” between September and December, the Game Commission said.

Daugherty and Jennifer Rosenberry, reached by phone Wednesday, declined to comment on the citations. Cain Rosenberry and Joshua Runkle could not be reached for comment.

Wildlife Conservation Officer Steven Knickel received a report on Dec. 10 that someone was shooting from the road in Jackson Township. Knickel and Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer Matthew Miller began investigating, and eight days later, Knickel applied for and received a search warrant for the Daugherty home.

During the search, firearms, bows, crossbows and other hunting equipment were found, as well as skulls, antlers, hides and meat. There also was a dry erase board with a tally of each of the six individuals’ harvest totals.

The deer were illegally harvested by all parties involved, according to the Game Commission’s news release. Some of the deer were killed at night or during closed season using lights from the highway. Some of the deer were tagged using Maryland tags.

All of the deer were processed and packaged at the Daugherty residence, according to the news release.

The six were cited with unlawful taking of big game, shooting on or across highways, unlawful use of lights while hunting, and other offenses. Daugherty, Jennifer Rosenberry and one of the juveniles were ordered to pay $7,650 in fines plus court costs. Cain Rosenberry, Runkle and another minor were ordered to pay $15,650 in fines.
