Africa in Lancaster

When Kenyan native Dorothy Dulo finished college in the U.S. and went back to Africa to visit, she felt a calling to try and alleviate some of the poverty, disease and lack of education in her village of Alendu. In 2007, she and her husband Roger created the Rafiki Africa Foundation and began making trips to the region to set up classrooms, to teach women about their rights and to impart skills that would be valuable in the marketplace.
To help raise funds, Rafiki Africa is holding the African Festival & 5K Saturday, May 3 from 9am-1pm at the Lancaster County Christian School. Proceeds from the event will help to build classrooms in Alendu. In addition to the 5K, the festival will feature authentic African food, crafts, fashion dancing and music.
