Adamstown, Antiques Capital USA

Extravaganza3.jpg

Adamstown, Pa sits on the line between Lancaster and Berks counties. The borough promotes itself as “Antiques Capital, USA”. Seven miles of RT 272 in the area are lined with Antiques malls and shops, some two dozen in all, with over 5,000 dealers who rent spaces in the antique co-op stores.

All kinds of antiques can be found here: vintage clothing, linens, glassware, collectibles, lamps, kitchenware, furniture, the list is endless.

Three times a year, the borough presents the Adamstown Antiques Extravaganza, bringing in even more dealers to set up outside in tents and stands, and attracting thousands more shoppers to the area over the period.

The next Extravaganza is Wednesday through Saturday, April 23-26, and there’s more information about it on their website.

WITF interviewedMike Middleton, manager of Heritage Antiques co-op in Adamstown and part owner of 272 Antiques, and Christine Landis, manager of the Mad Hatter, Pine Hills Antique Mall and Adamstown Antique Mall. She is also president of the organization, Antiques Capital USA.
