(Erie) — County commissioners from across the commonwealth are gathering for their annual conference this week.

The event at Erie’s Bayfront Convention Center focuses on issues like transportation funding, economic development and pensions.

County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania meeting planner Terry Cochran says sessions are aimed at sharing information among county leaders.

“We do call this conference our premiere educational event,” Cochran says. “We offer a huge amount of education sessions for the commissioners, so it’s one of the most education-filled ones that we do all year.”

More than 50 of the commonwealth’s 67 counties are represented at the event that welcomes more than 500 people.

The 127th annual conference runs through Wednesday.
