CDC: Vials contain no trace of virus that causes smallpox
Federal health authorities say frozen vials labeled “Smallpox” that were discovered in a freezer at a vaccine research facility in Pennsylvania “contain no trace of virus known to cause smallpox.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday that the vials contain a virus used in the smallpox vaccine and not the virus that actually causes smallpox.
