Bruce Castor, 59, is familiar with politics, being elected as the ambitious, cowboy-booted and pinstripe-suited prosecutor from one of the state’s wealthiest and most heavily populated counties in suburban Philadelphia.
Six Republican senators, including Pennsylvania’s Pat Toomey, broke ranks to support continuing the process. Toomey is not running for reelection.
Marcel Groen, the Montgomery County-based former head of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, puts the significance simply: “We’re almost like the center of the universe.”
Throughout his career, Bruce Castor has shown a knack for finding the limelight, and a tendency to fill in for disgraced public officials.
