A judge dismissed the most serious charge against a man accused of shooting a civil rights activist during a confrontation with a group of marchers on their way to Washington D.C.

Charges were also brought against a marcher who was shot in the face and who police say returned fire.

Video footage from the night of a shooting in Bedford County does not support state police accounts that a confrontation preceded shots being fired at a group of civil rights marchers.

While the motive remains unclear, the group of Black and white marchers said a white man with a rifle opened fire on them, injuring one in the face.
