As students prepare for their first full year of in person learning since the start of COVID-19, the pressure to hit the school hallways with style, fit in, or simply be prepared for a successful school year, is on and is costing parents and students a pretty penny.

The School District of Philadelphia plans to allow children enrolled in pre-K through second grade — about 32,000 students — to return to the classroom two days a week starting Nov. 30, though some schools may not offer face-to-face learning if enough parents or teachers opt out.
The district said it experienced an unexpected delay in computer and tablet deliveries, though in July it had said that most of its purchases were backordered and that some might not arrive until October.
