From time-to-time we like to highlight places to go and things to do to enjoy yourselves. We used to hear just about trails for hiking. Now there are “trails” that involve a series of similar sites to visit. Beer and wine trails are some of the most popular.

But what about trails for the whole family?

You can find ice cream trails throughout the region and today we shine a spotlight on the Cumberland Valley Ice Cream Trail.

With us on The Spark Monday was Aaron Jumper, Public Relations Manager, Cumberland Valley Visitors Bureau, “It started a couple of years ago, probably five or six years ago, we started the Cumberland Valley Beer Trail. And then it kind of evolved. We knew that people really liked these culinary trails where they could go and explore what businesses and restaurants were in their area. And so it kind of evolved from there. So we have the beer trail for the over 21 crowd. And then, well, what about the families? We have a ton of families who are residents here who like to visit here. So the ice cream trail is kind of the next evolution of that. Part of it is that Cumberland County is such an agricultural rich area. So you have places who are making their own ice cream and then it’s just celebrating the number of stops that we have along the county. So this is the third year of the Cumberland Valley Ice Cream Trail. We have 19 locations this year, which is the most we’ve had. And so what you do is you go to our website at visit Visit Cumberland Valley, you’ll sign up for the passport right there. So it’s not an app, but you’ll use your phone and digitally check into every location There’s kind of a code you’ll check in at that location and as you go along you get kind of points as you check in. And so then you win prizes. So you’re getting ice cream and you’re winning prizes along the way. It’s kind of the perfect summer.”
