Pennsylvania leads the nation in Lyme disease; Largest study of ticks being conducted

Pennsylvania leads the nation in the incidence of Lyme disease and has for 11 of the past 12 years.

Lyme disease is spread by ticks. The largest study of its kind on ticks is underway in Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Tick Research Lab is one of only three nationwide and is analyzing data from 30,000 tick exposures from 2019 to 2021.

Joining us on The Spark Tuesday was Dr. Nicole Chinnici, laboratory director for the Northeast Wildlife DNA Laboratory – home of the Pennsylvania Tick Research Lab, located at East Stroudsburg University.
