How are state prison inmates being prepared for reentry?

There are more than 36,000 people incarcerated in Pennsylvania Correctional facilities. On any given day, another 35,000 are locked up in county jails. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections says more than 90% of them will be released someday.

The DOC indicates that’s why they prepare them for re-entry from the first day they are incarcerated. Re-entry includes programs in education, jobs, technology and community.

Danny McIntyre, Director of the Department of Corrections Bureau of Reentry Coordination is on Thursday’s Smart Talk to explain.
