Mavis Staples – I’ll Take You There: An All Star Celebration is a star-studded concert event features some of music’s biggest acts – spanning multiple generations and genres – as they celebrate the 75th birthday of the Blues and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and civil rights icon.
Known for her work in the Staple Singers as well as her solo singing career, Staples’ soulful songs of justice and equality have served as some of the most inspirational music of the civil rights movement, inspiring countless other artists and activists.
Now, in this once-in-a-lifetime music event recorded at Chicago’s famous Auditorium Theatre in 2014, artist friends come together to sing some of Staples’ best-known songs and celebrate a career that has spanned more than six decades. Guest stars include Bonnie Raitt, Aaron Neville, Emmylou Harris, Gregg Allman, Keb Mo, Taj Mahal, and of course Mavis Staples herself.
