Coronavirus prompts cancellation of Long’s Park Summer Music Series

Tents erected in the parking lot outside Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pa., will be used as a coronavirus testing center.
Another public event has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation has announced that they will not be holding the Summer Music Series at Long’s Park this year. The series, which included several events between June 7 through August 30 of 2020, has been a mainstay at Lancaster’s Long’s Park for 58 seasons.
“This is a heart-wrenching decision,” said Brad Zuke, board member and chair of the Music Committee for the foundation, in a press release. “We know that a lot of folks in our community are hoping the concerts will go on, and have told us they needed something to look forward to once life got back to normal. Our volunteers pressed on and recruited a fantastic lineup of performers. However, under current guidelines, concerts such as ours are not allowed, and there is no definite time frame for when they will be allowed.”
Zuke went on to say that large gatherings were not in the “best interest of public health,” and that the organization was canceling the events in order to do their part to help prevent gatherings of people that can help spread the coronavirus.
The press release also made mention that the foundation was developing plans for an online alternative to the Summer Music Series, with performances shared through the Long’s Park Amphitheater Foundation’s websites and social media platforms.
