I report on energy and the environment for StateImpact Pennsylvania at WITF.
My work focuses on responses and solutions to climate change in the state legislature and communities around the state. I trace my interest in these issues back to my time as a Girl Scout and this episode of Rocko’s Modern Life.
I look forward to winter just for the chance to ski a few times each season. I try to keep myself from doom-scrolling on my phone by keeping my hands busy knitting and learning to play the piano.
I grew up in Cambria County, Pa. and graduated from Temple University. I started at WITF just after Christmas in 2014.

(Harrisburg) — Federal authorities are accusing a former midstate drug detective of trading official actions for sexual favors.
Federal prosecutors announced Wednesday the indictment of 52-year-old former Carlisle Borough police officer Christopher Collare on bribery, fraud and heroin distribution charges.
Collare was a detective with the Carlisle Police Department, a member of the Cumberland County Drug Task Force, and a task force officer with the FBI.
Prosecutors allege that in 2015 and 2018, Collare agreed to accept sex or money from two women in exchange for taking steps to get criminal charges dismissed or sentences reduced.
The indictment also says Collare allowed informants to keep drugs they got through controlled buys.
He’s also charged with lying on federal forms to become an FBI task force officer.
Collare now lives in South Carolina. Court records don’t list a defense attorney and a listed phone number for him couldn’t be found Wednesday.
When people come together and talk about really interesting topics, great questions spark better understanding and opportunities for new ideas to form. On The Spark from WITF, host Asia Tabb starts the conversations about what’s happening in the world and at home.
