The Senate Has Voted to Eliminate Public Media Funding

The Senate has passed the Recissions Act of 2025, which would completely defund public media. The amended bill now heads back to the House for consideration.

This vote threatens federal support for WITF — putting at risk the educational programs, trusted news and emergency communications our community relies on, both locally and from PBS and NPR.

Your voice is urgently needed. Call your Representative and donate today to help protect the future of local public media.

(Iowa City) — The 10th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions visit Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City tonight to face the 17th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes. It’s the first nationally-ranked opponent of the season for Penn State.

Iowa enters the contest 4-1 on the year after losing last week to Michigan 10-3. Penn State, meanwhile, is coming off a 35-7 win in Beaver Stadium against Purdue.

The Hawkeyes are a strong defensive team this season, ranked fifth nationally in total defense and third in scoring defense. They also have been able to control the football offensively, ranking second in the FBS in time of possession.

Last season, Nick Scott intercepted a pass at the goal line in the final minutes of the game to help preserve a 30-24 win for Penn State. In 2017, the Nittany Lions escaped Iowa City with a 21-19 win when Trace McSorley connected with Juwan Johnson in the back of the end zone with four seconds remaining for a 21-19 victory.

The nationally televised game kickoffs at 7:30pm on ABC.
