(Undated) — Central Pennsylvania is bracing for blast of snow and frigid temperatures.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 8:00 p.m. for much of the midstate and until midnight for Berks County.
Snow is expected to hit the region this morning and continue — off and on — through tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, Schuylkill County could be the hardest hit with up to eight inches of snow possible.
Meteorologist Kevin Fitzgerald says the snow will be followed by the second bitter cold snap in less than two weeks.
“We’re looking for high temperatures (tomorrow) ranging from zero to five below over the northwest mountains to the low 20s over the southeastern part of the state,” he said. “We move ahead to Thursday, a lot of places will be stuck in the single digits for the high temperatures.”
Here is the latest list of school delays and closings.
Temperatures are expected to moderate by Friday and be back to seasonable levels in time for Groundhog Day on Saturday.
A frontal system will move into the region tonight and Tuesday. A wave along the front is expected to bring a widespread light to moderate snowfall. #ctpwx #pawx pic.twitter.com/5eCZYKutQ8
