Incumbent Democrat Gov. Tom Wolf won another four-year term in office by handily defeating Republican challenger Scott Wagner and two others.  Even though Republicans retained control of both the State House and Senate, Democrats picked up 16 seats in the House and flipped five in the Senate.

Sen. Bob Casey won a third term by beating Republican Congressman Lou Barletta and two others. Republicans widened their majority in the U.S. Senate, though.

Two high-profile area Congressional races resulted in incumbent Republican victories. Congressman Scott Perry won a close race against Democrat George Scott in the 10th District, which covers Dauphin County and portions of York and Cumberland Counties. Congressman Lloyd Smucker emerged with a double digit win over Democrat Jess King in what was expected to be a close contest.

We’ll look at those results and others on Wednesday’s Smart Talk.
