Scott Wagner: ‘I’m not an angry guy. I’m a passionate guy.’

(Chambersburg) — A subdued Scott Wagner spoke to the Franklin County GOP faithful on Wednesday, less than a week after threatening to “stomp all over” Gov. Tom Wolf’s face with golf spikes.
“I’m not a career politician,” Wagner said. “I’m not going to be politically correct. I am who I am. People say I’m stiff. Well, I am a little stiff. Don’t mistake anger — I’m not an angry guy. I’m a passionate guy. I’m telling you there are things I see happening in Harrisburg that upset me, and they do make me angry, but at the end of the day, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, I’m going to tell you it’s a duck. It’s not a moose.”
Most polls have Republican Wagner trailing Democratic Wolf by double digits with three weeks left until the Nov. 6 election. Wagner holds to an Aug. 20 poll that has him trailing by just three points. The poll called more than 2,000 voters who had landline telephones.
About 115 people attended the Dwight D. Eisenhower Dinner at the Orchards Restaurant. Wagner, a state senator from York, was the keynote speaker.
“He’s a guy that can do,” said Dr. Robert Ternes, chairman of the Franklin County Republican Party. “He’s a fixer. This is something politicians don’t do. They pass bills and forget about the problem.”
Wagner said this election may be the most crucial election in Pennsylvania for the next 20 years. Should Wolf win, a charismatic attorney general, Democrat Josh Shapiro, is waiting in the wings.
“We’re going to win this,” Wagner said. “The people of Pennsylvania like what’s going on with President Trump. The national economy is booming. We’re not tied into that national economy because we have a skilled labor crisis” in Pennsylvania.
