Three debates set in 13th Congressional District race

(Harrisburg) — The Republican and Democratic candidates for the 13th Congressional District seat are set to debate three times before the November 6th election.

The 13th district includes part of Cumberland County and all of Franklin and Adams counties. The seat was left vacant by the retirement of longtime Congressman Bill Shuster.

Republican Dr. John Joyce’s campaign announced the dates and locations of the debates. The first is scheduled for Friday, October 12th at 7:30 a.m. at the Bedford County Chamber, 937 S. Richard Street, Bedford.

The next is slated for Monday, October 22nd at 6 p.m. at Cross Keys Village, 2990 Carlisle Street, New Oxford.

The candidates will meet a final time on October 30th at 6:30 p.m. at the Cumberland 9/12 Patriots Forum, 177 Carlisle Springs Road, Carlisle.

Joyce and his Democratic opponent Brent Ottaway are both first-time candidates from Blair County.

Joyce won the nomination from a crowded field of eight Republicans in the May primary.

Ottaway ran unopposed in the spring.
