2 dead, 1 injured in high-speed crash in Adams County

Two people died in a crash with entrapment on Carlisle Pike, just north of Pine Run Road in Hamilton Township, Adams County on Friday night, according to state police at Gettysburg.

A third person was taken to York Hospital for treatment.

Around 9 p.m., a vehicle traveling south on Carlisle Pike at a high rate of speed lost control and traveled across the road, striking another vehicle, according to Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. James Flanagan. One vehicle caught fire.

The 22-year-old driver in the southbound vehicle died, while in the northbound vehicle struck, a passenger died and the 34-year-old driver was injured, according to a state police news release.

Their identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

According to United Hook & Ladder Company, Carlisle Pike was closed at Berlin Road and Gun Club Road for some time.
