(Harrisburg) — Pennsylvania’s state government watchdog has announced a significant change to the way state agencies are audited.

Auditor General Eugene DePasquale says all state agency audits moving forward will include an investigation into sexual harassment incidents and policy.

“The goal is to prevent sexual harasssment from happening in the first place and that’s why one of the areas we’re going to focus on, when we do our audits, is the training of each of the agencies to stop sexual harassment,” he said.

And DePasquale says his department will not be excluded.

In fact – he wants his office to serve as the standard for all of state government.

The one entity excluded from this policy change – the legislature. That is, unless lawmakers grant the auditor general that authority. So far, they haven’t despite several requests.
