Midstate college president announces retirement

(Harrisburg) — The head of a midstate college is stepping down.
Elizabethtown College President Carl Strikwerda has announced his retirement, effective in June 2019.
During his tenure, the college raised nearly $50 million for a capital campaign.
It also expanded graduate programs, added new majors and concentrations, and joined the Landmark Athletic Conference.
Under the American Talent Initiative, the college has committed to increasing the number of transfer students by 400 percent by 2021.
Most recently, Elizabethtown College broke ground on a 24-million dollar sport and fitness complex.
The College’s Board of Trustees will oversee a search for Strikwerda’s successor starting immediately.
Strikwerda and his wife, Gail, plan to move to Washington, D.C.
