Midstate national park staff assisting with Irma response

(Harrisburg) — Staff members at Gettysburg National Military Park have deployed to help other national parks clean up in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
Twenty staff members are with the National Park Service Eastern Incident Management Team supporting the hurricane response throughout Florida, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic coast.
The team is in its second week of operation, conducting damage assessments and removing debris in the affected areas, while keeping an eye on developing storms that may threaten national parks later this week.
“We are supporting our National Park Service colleagues throughout the hurricane ravaged areas,” said Acting Superintendent Bill Justice. “I’m proud to send our dedicated staff to help in any way they can.”
All park operations in Gettysburg will continue during the hurricane deployments. The most visible impact may be delayed mowing and trimming operations.
