Palmyra’s Katie Schreckengast among top 10 finalists at Miss America 2018

(Undated) — Miss Pennsylvania – Palmyra’s Katie Schreckengast – was among the top 10 finalists at Miss America 2018 Sunday night.
Schreckengast was well-known as a competitive swimmer with the Palmyra High School swim team and she was the only woman in the top 15 finalists to wear a one-piece swimsuit in the swimsuit competition, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Miss North Dakota Cara Mund won the title – the first from her state ever to take the Miss America crown. She succeeds outgoing Miss America Savvy Shields.
The first runner-up was Miss Missouri Jennifer Davis, with Miss New Jersey Kaitlyn Schoeffel coming in as second runner up. Miss District of Columbia Briana Kinsey was third runner up, and Miss Texas Morgana Wood was fourth.
The top 10 finalists were: Miss Virginia Cecili Weber, Miss Pennsylvania Katie Schreckengast, Miss Louisiana Laryssa Bonacquisti, Miss District of Columbia Briana Kinsey, Miss Texas Margana Wood, Miss Alabama Jessica Procter, Miss Missouri Jennifer Davis, Miss South Carolina Suzi Roberts, Miss New Jersey Kaitlyn Schoeffel and Miss North Dakota Cara Mund.
Schreckengast, 20, won the Miss Pennsylvania title after returning from a three-year hiatus from pageant competitions. She was adopted from South Korea when she was six months old, and adoption serves as her platform as Miss Pennsylvania. Schreckengast was raised in Palmyra and is a graduate from the Palmyra Area High School.
She is working on a degree in Broadcast Journalism at Penn State, where she is also a member of the Penn State Blue Band.
