Snow expected in the midstate tomorrow

(State College) — Spring may be right around the corner, but winter weather is likely to make an appearance in the midstate tonight.

A winter weather advisory goes into effect from midnight until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow in Columbia, Juniata, Mifflin, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Snyder and Union counties and from 2:00 a.m. tomorrow until 9:00 a.m. in Dauphin, Lebanon and Perry counties.

Snow is expected to start falling shortly after midnight tonight, into tomorrow morning. The National Weather Service in State College predicts it will produce one to three inches in most of the region, with two to four inches falling in some of the northern parts of central Pennsylania.

Forecaster David Martin says the snow will likely taper off tomorrow afternoon, and it could cause some headaches for the morning and evening commute.

“Even though it’s March, be prepared for winter weather,” he says. “Some of our bigger storms have appeared in March and early April.” 

Martin says tomorrow night will also be windy, with overnight temperatures in the 20’s. The weekend also looks to be cold, with highs struggling to get above freezing.

There’s a possibility for another fast-moving snow storm late Monday night into Tuesday. It’s expected to produce a couple inches.
