Gettysburg man to file suit in Taser arrest

(Gettysburg) — A Gettysburg man says he plans to file a lawsuit against the Gettysburg Borough and other officials Tuesday for allegedly violating his constitutional rights during a May 2015 arrest involving a Taser, according to a news release circulated by his attorney Monday.
Derek Twyman’s arrest was captured on Officer Christopher Folster’s body camera in 2015. Folster is seen using a Taser to subdue Twyman, who had refused orders to get out of his car after he was pulled over for allegedly violating a protection from abuse order. Twyman was later acquitted of resisting arrest, which he credits to the footage being shown at trial.
Twyman’s attorney Devon Jacob, of Jacob Litigation, plans to file a federal civil rights lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania Tuesday morning. Twyman said he and Jacob also plan to hold a news conference in Gettysburg Tuesday afternoon.
