Task force on driverless vehicles in Pa. releases recommendations

(Harrisburg) — A state task force has released recommendations for the testing of autonomous vehicles in the commonwealth.
The report focuses on testing and not on the use of fully-autonomous vehicles, which is at least a few years away.
Recommendations cover testing proposals, data collection, and cybersecurity measures.
PennDOT’s Kurt Myers co-chaired the task force.
He says they want to encourage the development of this technology in the commonwealth.
“We want to see it develop because of the potential it has to benefit not only Pennsylvania citizens but certainly those across the country and for the world for that matter,” he says.
PennDOT will be accepting public input on the recommendations before working with the state legislature in the new session to pass them into law.
