(Marysville) —  Motorists heading up the river just north of Harrisburg are happy today knowing that a one-mile portion of Routes 11/15 has reopened, more than a month ahead of schedule.

The roadway had been completely closed since May 1st from the I-81 Interchange to just south of Marysville due to PennDOT’s rock slope safety project.

The work involved the installation of wire mesh and fencing to keep rocks from falling onto the roadway.

PennDOT officials say work will continue with some lane restrictions in place.

11/15 was to remain closed through at least the end of July, but the contractor was able to keep the project ahead of schedule.
