Pa. hires company to develop plan for Harrisburg State Hospital grounds
(Harrisburg) — The state is trying to figure out what to do with the former Harrisburg State Hospital property.
Now, the Department of General Services is hiring a Lancaster County-based company to come up with recommendations.
The two-year contract is worth nearly $260,000.
RGS Associates will hold public meetings and develop a report that will factor in historic preservation and environmental issues.
Harrisburg State Hospital, which includes about 330 acres, closed in 2006.
Since then, it’s been used as offices by the Department of General Services and other state departments.
