Capital Region Water proposes rate hike
(Harrisburg) — Capital Region Water is proposing a rate hike to pay for maintenance and more staff.
The water and sewer company that serves Harrisburg and some surrounding communities wants to hike drinking water rates nearly 10 percent, as well as the standard “ready to serve” charge.
The charges would cost the typical residential customer nearly four dollars a month.
The utility says it would use the additional money to rehabilitate a water storage tank, improve a dam, and hire field and support staff.
Its board of directors will vote on the rate proposal at a meeting Wednesday night.
