About 100 supporters of the “Black Lives Matter” march along the rout of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, in St. Paul, Sunday, Oct. 4 2015. The group marched within 50 yards of barriers near the end of the course but did not disrupt the event. St. Paul police say no one was arrested.

(Gettysburg) — A co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement is set to speak this week at a midstate college.

Opal Tometi started the twitter hashtag associated with the movement after George Zimmerman was acquitted in the death of Trayvon Martin in Florida.

She’s now the executive director of the Black Alliance for Just Immigration.

She’s speaking about the fight for racial and economic justice at Gettysburg College on Thursday afternoon at 5:30.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
