(Harrisburg) — A former union president is charged with stealing nearly $67,000 from the organization he once led.

50-year-old Howard Royal of Steelton allegedly pulled the money out of the United Government Security Officers of America Local 304 account between December 2009 and November 2010.

The group represents security officers in state government agencies, and Local 304 is headquartered in Harrisburg.

If convicted of federal wire fraud charges, Royal could face up to 20 years in jail and a $250,000 fine.
