Yes, it’s true: snow expected tomorrow

(Harrisburg) — Mid-March means Saint Patrick’s Day and the start of college basketball’s frenetic postseason tournament. But for the midstate this year, it also means snow.

Forecasters say snow is coming early tomorrow morning.

The Lancaster and York areas should expect three to five inches, while most of the region could see four to six inches.

“The morning commute will be the one most impacted by this event, as we get into the afternoon hours, not only will the event be slowly winding down, it will also be a little bit warmer, you have a higher sun angle in March, the sun will be higher in the sky,” says Elyse Hagner, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in State College.

But she says if there’s a bit of good news for those tired of winter, just look to Saturday.

“I don’t think it’ll stay on the ground very long, it’s going to be warm on Saturday with highs in the 40’s, definitely give some of that snow a chance to melt,” she adds.

And just a friendly reminder, the snow is expected on the first day of spring.

No timing records will be set by the storm – just last year, it snowed in the midstate on March 31st.

This isn’t even the latest snow storm for the midstate in the past couple of years – it snowed March 31st, 2014.
